“Modern Excavation”

A giant stone wall is being excavated revealing a wall with a splattered background.  Masterpieces such as Edvard Munch’s “The Scream”, Van Gogh’s ” Starry Night” and Da Vinci’s “Mona Lisa” among the others, seem disrupted by the sudden movement of the stone.  A beautiful artist’s pallet emerges through the center of the shadowbox representing the tools used in creating such great art.

The Artist lays out this piece like an archaeological dig.  As each stone is unturned, it reveals another beautiful part of the wall.  The splattered colors blend together to form a modern abstract piece which seems to conflict with the traditional classic paintings.  The revealing of the splattered paint almost seems to signify an in with the new out with old type of a feeling.  Whether this was intended by the Artist is left to interpretation.

Miniature paintings, stone, wood and acrylic paints were used to create this wonderful piece.  The digital print of this piece shows the archaeological site being detonated which may uncover a deeper meaning of the work.  “Dig It”?
